Each Course Provider has their own rules on refunds which you agree to when completing their Student Application. Domestic students are entitled to a refund if they withdraw from a course or training scheme as per section 357 of the Education and Training Act 2020, and if:
Withdrawals, deferrals, and refunds
Domestic students
- All requests to withdraw from a course must be submitted in writing to the course provider. The date of the written request for withdrawal is the official date of withdrawal from the course.
- Similarly, all deferral requests must also be submitted in writing before the course commencement date.
- You can withdraw from a course you are enrolled in any time prior to the start date for a full refund of the course fees. For courses that have already commenced, the withdrawal period and refund policy is below:
For courses of three months duration or more:
Domestic students are entitled to a refund if they withdraw from a course or training scheme as per section 357 of the Education and Training Act 2020, and if:
- The course is of three (3) months duration or more; and
- The withdrawal occurs up to the end of the eighth (8th) day after the start of a course.
The Course Provider shall refund an amount equal to the sum of the amount paid less a deduction of the lesser of ten (10) per cent of the fees paid or $500 including GST.
For courses less than three months duration:
Domestic students enrolling in a course or training scheme of less than three months duration are entitled to a refund under section 357(3) of the Education and Training Act 2020. NZQA specifies the following withdrawal periods and refund amounts for domestic students on courses of under three (3) months:

Please note: Although these refund and withdrawal periods are specifically for NZQA programmes and micro-credentials, Strategi Institute also applies the same refund policy to short courses, and webinars.
No refund is made if a student enrolment is terminated due to serious misconduct or lack of attendance.
You are not entitled to refunds after the withdrawal period for any course. However, Strategi Institute will consider requests for refunds based on extenuating circumstances and compassionate grounds beyond the withdrawal period. Any refund beyond the withdrawal period is at Strategi Institute’s discretion.
